Michael Eckers has studied the history of America and our military for more than 40 years. He is retired from Federal service including four years in the U S Navy during the Vietnam era. Michael currently resides in southern Minnesota and is an active supporter of numerous historical and veterans groups. Michael has written three books on the American Civil War. Wisconsin Iron is a novel about a young man in the Iron Brigade while The Boys of Wasioja is a non-fiction work chronicling the experiences of Company C of the Second Minnesota Infantry from Dodge County. Northern Colors is the Civil War segment of a series which will chronicle the generations of a family from the American Revolution through today’s War on Terror. Michael has recently released a new book, Colors in the Earth; it’s the story of a Minnesota doughboy and an American nurse in France during The Great War. Another in this series is Colors in the Air; the tale of a young bombardier in the U S Eighth Air Force and his new bride. The two must test their love through the separation and carnage of World War II. Besides writing, Michael enjoys sharing his knowledge of our history by speaking to groups, from roundtables to school classrooms.
